Beeson Professor Plans to Leave Legacy
Gerald Bray will celebrate 30 years at Beeson Divinity School in February. He remembers starting six weeks before the blizzard that would become known to Alabamians as the “Storm of the Century.” Since 1993, Bray has impacted hundreds of students, leading and walking with them through their journeys at Beeson.

Missionary’s Legacy Carried on Through Samford Scholarship Recipient
Travis Joines ’94 lived his life with a mission to spread the gospel. He and his wife, Carissa, served as missionaries in the Middle East for several years. Upon returning to the United States, they continued their work in North Carolina with the North American Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention.

Beeson Divinity School Preparing to Launch Ph.D. in Theology for the Church
Samford University’s Board of Trustees approved Beeson Divinity School’s Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Theology for the Church during its meeting on Dec. 6. Following approval by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), it will be the first research doctoral degree offered by the university in its 180-year history.

Rwandan Archbishop to Give Commencement Sermon
Laurent Mbanda, archbishop of the Province of the Anglican Church of Rwanda, will give the sermon, “Go and Be Fruitful,” for Samford University’s Beeson Divinity School Commencement and a Service of Consecration on Dec. 9.
